SOS Feeding Therapy
Does your child have difficulty eating a range of food ?
- Eats less than 20 foods?
- Refuses entire food groups based on texture, taste or smell?
- Cries, screams or tantrums when new foods are presented?
- Often eats a different meal from the rest of the family at meal times?
If you answered YES to any of the above questions- this might be the program for your child.
What is the SOS feeding program ?
The Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) feeding program is an evidence-based approach that has been shown to help fussy eaters tolerate a wider range of food. The program supports children to interact with food in a way that focuses on play and desensitisation towards different food textures and tastes - in a non-stressful and playful environment.
How does it work ?
- Therapist conducts face to face pre-assessment to find out about your child's feeding needs
- Individual feeding sessions with a qualified SOS therapist
- Support with strategies for the home environment
- Sessions can take place at the clinic, home or school (Home and clinic sessions have shown best results)
- Post assessment session and report
SOS feeding program is a 13 hour program. It is best for children to have a NDIS funding package or similar fund source to help pay for the cost of the program.
